Hi everyone,
I am really pleased about the the upcoming episode: we have a good one coming up.
The topic will be the impact of the Internet on education, with a focus on math education. There will be two guests.
Keith Devlin is cofounder and director of Stanford’s H-STAR Institute and cofounder of the Stanford Media X research network, but he’s perhaps best known as “the math guy” on National Public Radio’s “Weekend Edition”. He’s also served as a consultant for the hit TV series “Numb3rs”. He’s received the Carl Sagan Award for Science Popularization, and has been recognized by the California State Assembly for his innovative work and longtime service in the field of mathematics. He’s written 28 books.
Salman Khan is the founder of the Khan Academy, a nonprofit enterprise whose goal is to provide a free world class education to anyone anywhere using short online videos to teach lessons in mathematics and other subjects. His 1200+ videos have garnered about 16,000,000 hits and received glowing testimonials from all over the world, and he was the recipient of the 2009 Tech Award in Education, given by the Tech Museum of Innovation.
