Dear Friends,
Summer Search, an organization that helps low-income, high-potential high school students succeed in high school, college, and beyond, has recently started a Silicon Valley chapter and wants to get the word out about how it supports and inspires young people to become responsible and altruistic leaders. I’ve recently joined the chapter’s board and can’t say enough good things about this organization. I’ve met Summer Search kids at various functions, hired one to work as an intern at my company, and am mentoring others. These kids are amazing—the odds are against them and yet their drive and ambition and willingness to learn and work are truly inspiring. So, of course, I want everyone to know about Summer Search (www.summersearch.org). Which is why you’re getting this email.
Please mark your calendars to attend a cocktail party on Oct. 1, 2006, at Emily Joubert Home and Garden Store in Woodside. You’ll learn more about the organization, meet some great kids, and enjoy nice hors d’oeuvres from Village Pub and wine from K&L. Emily Joubert is a wonderful store that will bring out your inner Martha Stewart—if you buy anything that evening, 15% of the proceeds go to Summer Search. If I have your mailing address, you’ll also receive a save-the-date postcard and an invitation later on; if I don’t have your address, I’ll stick with email and evite. And, of course—if you’d prefer that I remove you from my list of people to notify about Summer Search, just reply to this and let me know. Thanks and I hope to see you in October if not before!
Best,
Charlotte
