Are we Conscious yet? Dad?  Comments

Filed under: Events — Sky @ 1:40 pm

picture-1.pngWe had a great time with Yassi and Jerry at Doug’s yesterday discussing consciousness. I can’t try to summarize it, and y’all may want to comment on this post in order to say what was important for you, but here are my visual notes (a two-page 300k PDF) [which are organized into "conceptual buckets"] and my text (which is time-based) notes on the session. Poor substitute for Eileen Clegg’s writings on the wall, but they might be useful to some. I want John Anderton’s (Tom Cruise) glass wall-size hand-operated computer visual display! (from the movie Minority Report) but since I can’t have that, Omni-Graffle will have to do (thanks, Clark!).

Social bookmarking and RSS feeds – technologies  Comments

Filed under: technology — Sky @ 9:52 am

I have been noticing recently that folks are adding little colorful buttons (I like color) at the bottoms of their blog posts. Each button provides a single-click mechanism that can be used to “bookmark” the blog article in a social bookmarking service such as DEL.ICIO.US or DIGG.

And I have seen the same thing happening with respect to the “Subscribe to this blog” or “RSS Feed” buttons on some sites. (I’ve done it on mine.) Do you know why this is done? (more…)
