Jeff Conklin’s Issue Mapping Webinar: Discount Ends Next Wednesday  Comments

From: Jeff_Conklin_at_CogNexus_Institu@mail.vresp.com

Dear Bill,

I hope your summer is off to a great start! As you may already know, CogNexus is about to begin our next Issue Mapping Webinar Series, scheduled to begin July 8, 2009. There is a $100 Early Bird Discount that ends June 24th, so we want to remind you to register today!

We are excited to be offering this course because it gives participants a tool they can use immediately in their work and their lives to address highly complex and Wicked Problems. The course is also the prerequisite for our Dialogue Mapping Workshop, scheduled for September 15 & 16 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What is Issue Mapping and Who Does It Help?

An Issue Map makes critical thinking visible; it is a visual display that integrates ideas, issues, points of view, arguments, evidence and documents.

Issue Mapping drills directly into the processes for building shared understanding of problems with many moving parts — the kind of understanding that is essential to reaching effective solutions. Indeed, with shared understanding comes shared commitment and a quality of collaboration from which meaningful, lasting work can flower.

The Issue Mapping Webinar Series is recommended for those involved in highly complex projects, including managers, project leaders, consultants, facilitators and engineers.

What Does the Issue Mapping Webinar Series Offer?

The 5-session Issue Mapping Webinar Series is about learning and practicing the nuts and bolts of using a specific kind of language, logic and mapping to share and explore complicated issues. The Series gives participants practical experience and a tool they can use immediately at work and in their lives to work with complex problems.

The course delves deeply into the skills that are at the core of exposing the deep structure of an issue. When Mappers apply these skills, working with Wicked Problems becomes easier, more manageable and more effective; they get traction in situations that previously were stuck.

Different From Other Webinars

Different from many webinars, this course offers participants individualized, personal feedback on their practice maps; participants get to map out issues from their own work and lives as well as issues used in more standardized exercises. Class teachers are very accessible, offering office hours and personalized attention whenever needed.

Let me know if you have any questions, or just register!

I hope to “see” you in July’s Webinar Series!

Sincerely,
Jeff Conklin

P.S. Our free Introductory Webinar is being retooled. Stay tuned for the new improved version

More About Why Issue Mapping Works
Jeff Conklin posted a short video on YouTube that speaks to why Issue and Dialogue Mapping are so effective. They work because they facilitate the process of how humans actually think, talk to each other and solve problems. We may want our problem-solving, conversations and meetings to be tidy and linear, but the truth is that we naturally go “all over the map”. See what Jeff has to say!
