Jeff and I go —— w a y—— back.— He wrote some of the most exciting papers on organizational memory…I have never read anything better and those paper may have originally been written on PARCHMENT
.— Dialog Mapping is a little over my head, but I know that Jeff has quite the following of people that do understand his tools and process.— If you are slightly inclined…look into it.— I know a number of us NextNow people have gone to some of his workshops.
I am including his current email in full…———————— –bill

Hello again Dialogue Mapping Community,
I would like to remind everyone that our next Issue Mapping Webinar Series
(http://www.cognexus.org/issue_mapping_webinar_series.htm) starts on October
14th. The Early Bird Registration discount for this course ends on September
30th, so register today
(http://www.cognexus.org/october_imws_registration.htm)!!
If you would like more information about this Series, or have questions
about Issue and Dialogue Mapping, we also have a 1 hour and 15 minute Free
Introductory Webinar (http://www.cognexus.org/webinar.htm) on Wednesday,
September 30th.
Last but certainly not least, Paul Culmsee is still keeping it real in Part
3 of his “The Practice of Dialogue Mapping” series
(http://www.cleverworkarounds.com/2009/09/21/the-practice-of-dialogue-mappin
g-part-3/). If you’ve ever wondered about how Dialogue Mapping works in the
real world, this is something to read.— Don’t forget – you can post a reply
to his blog once you get there!
Besides remembering about three summers ago when I took guitar lessons for
the entire summer in order to learn how to play “Happy Birthday” to my
mother, who wasn’t that impressed, the article has initially prompted me to
remember:
1) Dialogue Mapping isn’t an easy way out — because there isn’t one when
needing to deal with complex problems. As Paul says, after a Dialogue
Mapping session, you’ll be tired! But using Dialogue Mapping makes things
BETTER, and is more effective than anything else I have experienced. It may
not be an EASY way out, but it is often the BEST way out.
2) Being fluent is IBIS gives one power. When you can THINK in a question
based framework, where your questions open the door for possibilities that
aren’t yet in your mind’s eye, the results can be astounding.
OK, that’s it for now! Let us know if you have any questions about the Issue
Mapping Webinar Series!
Lizzie
